The Kind of Person Who Gets to Stay
"Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart." — Psalm 15:1-2 NKJV
Jerusalem is crowded and loud, the smell of incense drifting out from the tabernacle, the sounds of the city pressing in from every direction. David watches the people moving in and out, some reverent, some distracted, some going through the motions. And quietly, almost to himself, he asks the question that has been sitting in his chest all morning: Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?
This psalm isn't a checklist for earning God's presence. It's a portrait of what a life shaped by closeness to God starts to look like from the outside. When you spend time near someone you love and trust, you slowly begin to take on their character. The truth-telling, the integrity, the kindness — these aren't prerequisites. They're evidence of proximity.
Integrity is a quiet thing. It doesn't announce itself. It shows up in the small moments — what you say when no one is watching, how you treat someone who can do nothing for you. The person described in Psalm 15 isn't perfect. They are consistent. There's a difference. Consistency is built one honest choice at a time, mostly when no one else is in the room.
Think of one area where your private life and your public life aren't quite matching up. Bring it to God today — no performance needed. Ask Him: Make me the same person in every room.
Scripture Promise:
"The integrity of the upright will guide them." —Proverbs 11:3 · NKJV
Prayer:
Father, make me a reflection of who You are in every area of my life; whether I'm at home, work, church or any social event. Let other see You in me.
Amen.
