Under His Wings - THE PROTECTION OF THE MOST HIGH
"Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand." —Psalm 95:6-7 NKJV
The wilderness is dangerous at night. There are predators, there are pestilences, there are arrows that come from directions you didn't expect. The person who wrote Psalm 91 knew this — not abstractly, but from experience. They had seen what the dark could hold. And they had also discovered something extraordinary: a shelter that did not depend on the danger being removed. A covering that held in the middle of all of it.
God uses this image — not armor, not fortress walls, but feathers. Wings. The shelter of something warm and alive. This is protective love. When a hen draws her chicks under her wings in a storm, she lowers herself over them. She becomes the covering with her own body. That is the image here.
You are not just behind a wall. You are under His wings — held, covered, sheltered by something that breathes. Whatever storm is moving in today, whatever danger feels close, you know where to go. Into Him.
Whenever anxiety rises today, say just three words: Under His wings. Say it as many times as you need to. Let those words do their work.
Scripture Promise:
"Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you." —Psalm 91:9-10 NKJV
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your protective love. Thank you for being our shelter in the storms of life and for abiding with us always, even when we are not aware. Teach us to seek your presence in all that we do. In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen.
