Be Still — This Is a Battle Verse
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea." —PSALM 46:1-2 NKJV
The earth is shaking. Not metaphorically — in the world of this psalm, the mountains are falling into the sea, the waters are roaring, the nations are in uproar. This is apocalyptic imagery, the kind that makes you reach for something solid. And in the middle of it all, from the center of the chaos, comes a voice that sounds almost unreasonably calm: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
I used to think Be still and know that I am God was a gentle invitation — soft lighting, a quiet room. But it was written in the context of mountains falling into the sea. It's a battle verse. It's a command to stop striving to fix what only God can fix. Stop managing outcomes that aren't yours to manage. Stop spinning in the anxiety of it.
He is still God. That doesn't change based on the news, the diagnosis, the conversation that went wrong, the year that won't relent. Whatever is shaking around you today — He is not shaken. You can be still in that.
Name the thing you've been striving to control that you cannot actually control. Say it out loud: You are God. I am not. I'm leaving this one with You.
Scripture Promise:

Prayer:
Father, whether in the quiet times or the difficult hours, teach me how to be still and know that you are still present. In Jesus name I pray.
Amen.
