Come Close Enough to Find Out

"Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" — Psalm 34:8 NKJV

David wrote this one in a strange moment — he had just escaped a dangerous situation by pretending to be insane in front of a foreign king. He drooled on himself to survive. Not a glorious chapter. And yet, walking away from that humiliation alive, he feels something rising in him that he can't contain. Not embarrassment. Gratitude. He opens his mouth and what comes out is one of the most tender invitations in all of Scripture.

You can't know the taste of something by reading about it. David doesn't say think about God's goodness, or reason your way to it. He says taste. Come close enough to experience it. Take a risk on the nearness.

There's a difference between believing God is good as a doctrine and knowing it because you've actually brought something real to Him and something real happened. He is not put off by your doubt. He is not frightened by your skepticism. He just says: come close enough to find out. The goodness is there. It has always been there. You just have to be willing to lean in.

Bring something real to God today — an honest fear, a genuine need, something you've been holding at arm's length. Come close. Let today be a taste.

Scripture Promise:

"Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You." —Psalm 31:19 NKJV

Prayer:

Father, thank you for your goodness, even when I don't deserve it. Thank you for your deliverance, even when I'm the cause of my captivity. Draw me closer to you. In Jesus name I pray.

Amen.

Stay in Rhythm. Stay in Grace.
