Praise as a Way of Seeing
"Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy. For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth." —Psalm 33:3-4 NKJV
The musicians are assembled — singers and string players, the sound of the harp and the ten-stringed lute filling the courtyard. This is not a quiet, private moment. This is corporate, intentional, full-throated worship. The psalmist calls for a new song, for skillful playing, for loud and joyful sound. There is something urgent in it — like praise is not just an emotional response but an act of seeing clearly, a way of reorienting to what is actually true.
Praise has a way of adjusting your vision. When anxiety and worry narrow your focus down to everything that could go wrong, praise widens the lens. It forces you to look at what is true — that His word is right, that His work is done in faithfulness, that the God who created everything by speaking it into existence has not lost the thread of your story.
A new song means a fresh act of worship — not recycled, not mechanical, but alive. Even if you don't feel like singing, the act of choosing to praise shifts something. You're not manufacturing emotion. You're making a declaration about what you believe is real.
Put on a worship song today that has meant something to you before. Don't just let it play in the background — really listen. Let it recalibrate something.
Scripture Promise:
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with grace in your hearts to the Lord." —Colossians 3:16 NKJV
Prayer:
Father, what a wonderful thing it is to give you praise. In the morning when I rise, let me praise, in the middle of my day, let me praise you and when I lie down to sleep at night let me praise. In Jesus name I pray.
Amen.
