Prepare to Meet Your God

“Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!” — Amos 4:12, NKJV

Some words are impossible to read casually, and Amos' command to “prepare to meet your God” is one of them. He spoke to people who had repeatedly encountered God's attempts to awaken them but had refused to return. They had grown comfortable living as though there would always be more time.

Scripture reminds us that history is moving toward an encounter with God. Jesus came once as the Lamb who carried our sin, and He has promised to come again as King. For those who belong to Christ, preparation is not supposed to produce panic. Jesus has already provided salvation. Preparation means living awake, knowing Him, trusting Him and refusing to allow this temporary world to become more important than the eternal kingdom ahead.

We prepare for so much in this life. We prepare financially, professionally, socially and physically, often investing years into things that will eventually pass away. Amos places a more enduring question before us: Am I living today like someone who genuinely expects to see Jesus? One day faith will become sight. May the face we see belong to the One we have already learned to love.

Consider what would change about today if you lived with a greater awareness that your life is moving toward a face-to-face encounter with Christ.

Scripture Promise:

“I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
— John 14:3, NKJV

Prayer:

Father, help me to live one day at a time, always looking forward to your soon return. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
