Can Two Walk Together?

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” — Amos 3:3, NKJV

Picture two people beginning a journey together. Their steps match at first, but eventually one begins moving in another direction. Unless someone changes course, the distance between them will continue to grow. Amos used a simple question to confront Israel with a deeper reality. They claimed God as their own while repeatedly choosing paths contrary to His heart.

We can do something similar with Jesus. We want His presence, protection and promises, but when His way conflicts with ours, surrender suddenly becomes more difficult. Jesus did not simply invite people to believe that He existed; He said, “Follow Me.” Following means that He determines the direction.

There will be moments when Christ leads somewhere your feelings would not naturally choose. He may lead you toward forgiveness when resentment feels justified, humility when pride wants to defend itself, patience when you want immediate answers or surrender when you would rather remain in control. Those moments reveal whether we merely want Jesus accompanying the life we have chosen or whether we truly want Him leading it. If Jesus is going one way and you are determined to go another, which one of you are you expecting to change direction?

Consider one area where you know what God is asking but have resisted His direction. Take one obedient step toward where Christ is leading.

Scripture Promise:

“He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” — John 8:12, NKJV

Prayer:

Father, teach me how to allow you to lead me. For where you lead, there I will find peace and safety. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
