When God Goes Before You

“The one who breaks open will come up before them; they will break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it; their king will pass before them, with the LORD at their head.”
— Micah 2:13, NKJV

There are seasons when all you can see is what stands in front of you. The way appears blocked, the circumstances refuse to move, and every possible route seems closed. Israel knew what it felt like to face circumstances beyond their ability to change, but Micah gave them a picture of God they needed to remember: the Lord would go before His people. Their King would lead them through.

That picture points us toward Jesus. Christ did what humanity could never do for itself. Sin had created a separation we could not cross, and death stood before us like a gate no human being could open. Then Jesus went ahead of us. Through His death and resurrection, He broke through the power of the grave and opened the way to life. Our King entered the very darkness we could not overcome and emerged victorious.

Maybe you are standing before something today that you cannot move. Your instinct may be to figure out how to force an opening, but Micah reminds us that sometimes our responsibility is to follow rather than break through. What if the way forward does not depend upon your ability to open the door, but upon your willingness to follow Christ when He does? The Shepherd who leads you is also the King who goes before you.

Bring the obstacle you cannot move before God today. Ask Him to show you the next faithful step, then resist the pressure to force what only He can open.

Scripture Promise:

“And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” — John 10:4, NKJV

Prayer:

Father, help me to know when to simply follow you rather than trying to do things my way. Thank you for giving me the courage to follow. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
