When Worship Becomes Noise
“But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.” — Amos 5:24, NKJV
Imagine standing among worshipers as songs rise around you. Offerings are brought. Sacred gatherings continue. Everything looks like worship.
Then God says, “Take away from Me the noise of your songs.”
Noise.
The problem isn’t that the people stopped worshiping. Their lives stopped agreeing with their worship. They lifted their hands toward God while injustice remained in the streets and people around them were being mistreated.
Jesus confronted the same disconnect. He spoke to religious people who knew Scripture, prayed publicly, and carefully observed religious practices while neglecting “justice and mercy and faith.” Their worship looked impressive, but Christ kept bringing them back to the heart.
That should make us uncomfortable enough to examine our own worship.
We can sing about loving Jesus and still refuse to forgive. We can praise the God of mercy while withholding mercy from someone else. We can ask Christ to transform our lives and then resist Him when He touches the parts that need changing.
Jesus is not looking for worship that ends when the song does. He wants lives that reveal the One we have been worshiping.
If someone watched the way you live after worship, would they recognize the Jesus you were singing about?
Choose one way to let your worship become visible today through mercy, justice, forgiveness, generosity, or compassion.

Prayer:
Father, open our eyes and let us see clearly, the needs of those around us. Then let our words and our praise to you match our deeds towards our neighbor. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
