Come Back
“‘Now, therefore,’ says the LORD, ‘Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.’” — Joel 2:12, NKJV
The fields are stripped bare. What should have produced a harvest has been devoured, and Joel’s warning hangs heavily over a nation that has wandered far from God.
Then, in the middle of judgment, comes an invitation:
“Turn to Me.”
God could have simply pointed out everything His people had done wrong. Instead, He tells them where to go from here. Back to Him.
But God wants more than torn garments and outward sorrow. “Rend your heart, and not your garments.” He is looking for something deeper than the appearance of repentance. He wants the heart that wandered.
Jesus shows us just how deeply God desires that return. He tells of a father watching the road for a lost son, a shepherd searching for one wandering sheep, and a woman searching until one lost coin is found. Then Christ goes to Calvary and makes the way home possible for every sinner who will come.
Maybe you haven’t walked completely away from God. Sometimes drifting happens quietly. Prayer becomes occasional. Scripture becomes familiar rather than life-giving. Conviction becomes easier to ignore. We remain near the things of God while our hearts slowly move farther from Him.
Yet His invitation remains: “Turn to Me.”
Not when you have repaired yourself. Not when you feel worthy enough to return. Come now.
How far might your heart have wandered while your life still looked close to God?
Ask Christ to show you where your heart has drifted. Whatever He reveals, respond by returning rather than explaining, excusing, or hiding.

Father, draw me back closer to you. Thank you for never leaving in Jesus name I pray Amen.
