He Delights in Mercy
“Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy.”
— Micah 7:18, NKJV
There are some things we bring before God slowly. We know He already sees them, yet shame makes us hesitate—the words we wish we could take back, the choices we regret, the failure we promised would never happen again.
We expect disappointment.
Then Micah tells us something remarkable about the God waiting for us: He delights in mercy.
Think about that. Mercy is not something God reluctantly pulls from Himself after we have begged long enough. It is part of His heart.
Jesus makes that heart visible. A woman caught in adultery is dragged before Him surrounded by accusers, yet Christ refuses to reduce her to her worst moment. Peter denies knowing Him three times, yet the risen Jesus finds Peter and restores him. At Calvary, Jesus asks the Father to forgive while His hands are still nailed to the cross.
The cross does not make sin insignificant. It shows us how costly sin truly is. But it also reveals how far God was willing to go to save the sinner.
Sometimes we carry guilt long after we have confessed because we believe continuing to punish ourselves somehow proves that we are sorry. Yet if Christ has forgiven what we have surrendered to Him, refusing His mercy does not make us more spiritual. It keeps us staring at ourselves instead of looking at our Savior.
What if Jesus is more ready to forgive you than you are willing to believe?
Bring the failure you keep replaying to Christ. Confess what needs confessing, receive the mercy He offers, and stop carrying what He has already invited you to place at the cross.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for your mercies that never fail. Lord, lead us to true repentance and by your grace help us to be like Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
