Here I Am
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’” — Isaiah 6:8, NKJV
The throne towers above you. The train of God’s robe fills the temple, and the voices of the seraphim shake the doorposts as they cry, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts.” Smoke fills the room. Suddenly, standing in the presence of perfect holiness, everything Isaiah once considered acceptable about himself looks different.
He doesn’t volunteer. He confesses.
“Woe is me, for I am undone!”
Then a seraph takes a live coal from the altar and touches Isaiah’s lips. The place of confession becomes the place of cleansing. Only then does Isaiah hear God ask, “Whom shall I send?”
We often want the assignment without the altar. We ask God to reveal our purpose or use our gifts while avoiding the deeper work He wants to do within us. Yet God cares about more than what He can accomplish through us. He cares deeply about who we are becoming in His presence.
Jesus makes that cleansing possible. We don’t make ourselves worthy enough to answer God’s call. Christ forgives, transforms, and prepares surrendered people for His purposes.
Before asking, “Lord, where are You sending me?” perhaps we should ask, “Lord, what in me needs to meet You at the altar first?”
Spend time in God’s presence before asking for direction today. Invite Him to reveal and cleanse anything that could interfere with where He wants to lead you.r

Prayer:
Father, thank you for reminding us that we don't have to qualify to be called, You qualify those whom You call. Lord, let there be something in me to echo the words of Isaiah, here am I, send me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
