He Touched What Everyone Else Avoided.
"Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, 'I am willing; be cleansed.' — Mark 1:41 (NKJV)
Imagine going years without anyone touching you.
Not a handshake. Not a hand on the shoulder. Not the casual contact of simply existing near people who aren't afraid of you. The law required him to announce his own contamination out loud — Unclean! Unclean! — so people could clear a path before he arrived. His own voice, weaponized against his own belonging.
So when he finally fell at Jesus' knees, what he said wasn't heal me. It was something more fragile: If You are willing. He already knew Jesus could. What a lifetime of rejection had taught him to doubt was the want.
Jesus didn't answer him from a safe distance. He reached out and touched him — before He said a single word. Because some wounds aren't only in the body. They live in the belief that no one wants to close the distance.
He is still willing. And whatever has been calling out unclean on your behalf — His hand is already moving.
Think of someone living under a sentence of distance — the friend no one calls, the family member everyone's written off. Close the distance today. A text, a call, a knock. You don't need the right words. The reach is the message.
Scripture Promise
"The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit." — Psalm 34:18 (NKJV)
Prayer:
Father, thank you for being willing to touch me. Lord make me whole from the inside out so that I can help others do the same. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
