Good News Went to the Night Shift First
God's greatest announcement came to ordinary people.
"Then the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.'" — Luke 2:10
The night was still. Sheep grazed quietly beneath a sky filled with stars as shepherds settled into another evening of watching and waiting. It was a night like so many before—until heaven interrupted it.
Suddenly, the darkness gave way to light.
An angel stood before them, and before the shepherds could catch their breath, these words broke the silence: "Do not be afraid."
Then came the greatest announcement the world had ever heard. The Savior had been born.
God could have entrusted that message to kings, priests, or scholars. Instead, He placed it in the hands of ordinary shepherds. The first invitation to see the Messiah wasn't delivered to people of influence, but to those faithfully carrying out the work before them.
That same God still meets people in ordinary places. He steps into everyday moments with extraordinary grace and reminds us that no life is too unnoticed, no heart too ordinary, to receive His invitation.
The shepherds left that hillside changed. They found Jesus just as they had been told, and they couldn't keep the good news to themselves.
When you encounter Christ, the ordinary never stays ordinary for long.
Look for someone today who may feel overlooked or forgotten. Share a word of encouragement, offer a simple act of kindness, or remind them that the Savior came for them too. Sometimes the greatest gift you can give is helping someone see that God knows exactly where they are.
Scripture Promise (NKJV)
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty." — 1 Corinthians 1:27
Prayer:
Father, thank you for not forgetting about me, lord show me someone I can share an act of kindness or give words of encouragement to. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
