"My sheep hear My voice." — John 10:27 (NKJV)
My mind is rarely quiet. There's always something running — the to-do list, the worry I haven't resolved, the conversation I'm still replaying. Even when I sit down to pray, I often do most of the talking.
I think a lot of us do. We come to God with our words already prepared, our requests already lined up. And there's nothing wrong with that. But sometimes I wonder how much I've missed simply because I never stopped long enough to listen.
Surrendering your voice is its own kind of discipline. It's choosing stillness in a world that rewards noise. It's trusting that what God has to say matters more than what I've already decided. And the beautiful thing is, He is speaking. Not in competition with the chaos, but underneath it, steady and clear, waiting for a moment of quiet to break through.
You don't have to hear something profound today. You just have to be willing to listen.
Set aside a few quiet minutes today — no agenda, no requests. Just sit and listen. Let God have the floor.
Scripture promise:
"Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way.'" — Isaiah 30:21
Prayer:
Father, help me to take the time to listen for your words instead of alway hearing my own.
Amen.
