"Come to Me… and I will give you rest." —Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)
Some days I wake up already behind. Before my feet hit the floor, there's a list running — things I haven't finished, people I haven't gotten back to, versions of myself I feel like I'm not quite measuring up to.
Pressure is sneaky like that. It disguises itself as responsibility, as ambition, as just trying to be enough. And it's exhausting — not just physically, but in that deep, underneath kind of way that rest doesn't always fix.
What I keep coming back to is this: God never asked for a performance. The invitation in Matthew isn't "do more" or "get it together first" — it's simply, come. As you are, with all of it still unresolved.
Surrendering pressure isn't giving up. It's choosing to stop proving something that was never required of you in the first place.
Pause somewhere today — even for just a few minutes — and let yourself simply be in God's presence. Not to pray through your list. Just to rest. That's the practice.
Scripture Promise:
"In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength."—Isaiah 30:15
Prayer:
Father, help me to understand that I don't have to perform, I don't have to try to be like other people or even keep up with the latest this or that. Help me to keep my eyes focused on you.
Amen.
