“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” — Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
We all carry a picture in our minds of how things are supposed to go. The job, the relationship, the timeline, the way this season of life was meant to unfold. And when reality doesn't match the picture — even slightly — disappointment has a way of settling in before we even realize it.
Expectations aren't wrong. It's natural to hope, to plan, to envision. But when we grip our expectations tightly, we can miss what God is actually doing — which is often something we wouldn't have thought to ask for.
Surrender here is an act of trust. It's saying, "My version isn't the only version." It's opening your hands so something greater can be placed in them. His plans don't just meet what you imagined — they exceed it. But there's usually a letting go before the receiving.
Name one expectation you've been holding onto — about a situation, a person, or yourself. Release it to God today, and choose to trust His outcome over your own.
Scripture Promise:
"The Lord will guide you continually." — Isaiah 58:11 (NKJV
Prayer:
Father, help me to learn to let go of my planned outcomes in life and surrender the end results to you. Teach me how to trust your way and not my own.
Amen.
