HE COVERED THEIR SHAME
"The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." — Genesis 3:21
Adam and Eve tried to cover their own shame with fig leaves. It was the best they could do — a desperate, inadequate attempt to manage what they had broken. But the fig leaves didn't last. They never do. Our self-made coverings never hold up under the weight of what we've done.
And so God did something extraordinary. In the very chapter where sin entered the world, He shed blood to make coverings for the people who had failed Him. Before there was a law. Before there was a temple. Before there was a cross — God was already telling the story of what He would one day do. He would not leave humanity exposed. He would not leave us in our shame. He would pay the cost himself.
My friend, what are you still trying to cover on your own? What fig leaf have you been sewing together to hide what you believe would make God turn away? He already knows. And He already made a covering. Not of leaves, but of grace — and it is more than enough for everything you've done.
Write down one thing you've been carrying in shame and hiding from God. Then write the words: "Covered by grace." Surrender it to the One who already paid the price.
Scripture Promise:
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." — Romans 8:1
Prayer:
Father, thank you for the blood of Jesus that was shed to provide a covering for our sins. Father, help us to walk in obedience. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
