THE PIT IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY
"So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe — the ornamental robe he was wearing — and they took him and threw him into the cistern." — Genesis 37:23–24
Joseph did nothing wrong that day. He was obeying his father, delivering food to his brothers, walking toward people who were supposed to be family. And they threw him in a pit. Stripped him. Sold him. And went home to eat a meal.
If the story ended at the pit, it would be one of the cruelest passages in Scripture. A dreamer betrayed by his own blood, dropped into a hole and forgotten. But the story did not end at the pit. It never does with God.
My friend, you may be in a pit right now that someone else put you in. A betrayal you didn't earn. A loss you didn't cause. A season that feels like everything has been stripped away and no one is coming. But God was with Joseph in the pit before He was with him in the palace. He was writing a story in the dark that would only make sense in the light. The pit is not your destination. It is a chapter. And the Author is not finished yet.
Write down the pit you are in — or the one you've come through. Then write the words: "This is not the end of my story." Read it aloud. Let it be a declaration of faith in the God who writes redemption into every chapter.
SCRIPTURE PROMISE
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." — Romans 8:28
Prayer:
Father, thank you for not only being with me in the PIT, but thank you also for delivering me from it. Lord lead me in the way you would have me go. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
