RETURN TO BETHEL

"Then God said to Jacob, 'Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.'" — Genesis 35:1

Years had passed since the dream. Jacob had built a life — married, had children, accumulated wealth. But he had also accumulated distance from the God who had met him that night at the stairway. And one day, God gave him a simple, clear instruction: Go back to Bethel. Go back to the place of encounter.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is not go forward — it is go back. Back to the altar. Back to the place of first surrender. Back to the moment when we first said yes, first felt God, first believed. Not to live there permanently, but to remember. To be recalibrated. To let the memory of what God did fuel the faith for what He is about to do.

My friend, where is your Bethel? What was the moment that changed everything for you spiritually? When did God first feel real? Go back there — not in grief, but in gratitude. Let it remind you who you serve and how far He's brought you. Then build your altar and move forward from a place of remembrance.

Write out the story of your personal Bethel moment — the encounter that first made God real to you. Share it with someone this week, or read it back to yourself as an act of gratitude and recommitment.

Scripture Promise:

"Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced." — 1 Chronicles 16:12

Prayer:

Father, take me back to the place where I first believed. Let me revel in your goodness no matter what the future may bring. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
