I WILL NOT LET YOU GO

"Then the man said, 'Let me go, for it is daybreak.' But Jacob replied, 'I will not let you go unless you bless me.'" — Genesis 32:26

Jacob was alone at the river, and he wrestled all night. We don't fully understand what this encounter was — but we know it cost him something. His hip was wrenched out of socket. He walked differently after this night for the rest of his life. And still — he would not stop. He would not let go.

There is something to be said for a faith that refuses to release God. Not a demanding faith — not one that makes ultimatums with God. But a faith so desperate, so hungry, so convinced that what God has to give is worth any pain, that it holds on through the night. Through the discomfort. Through the confusion. Through the thing that doesn't feel like blessing but is leading to one.

My friend, are you a let-go-too-easily prayer warrior? Have you released the thing too quickly when it didn't resolve the first time you asked? Jacob teaches us to stay at it. To hold on through the dark. The blessing is real. The God you're wrestling with is real. And He is not trying to break you — He is trying to change you. Hold on.

Write down a prayer you've been on the verge of giving up. Recommit to it today. Set a specific time each day this week to return to that prayer — and hold on.

SCRIPTURE PROMISE

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." — Matthew 7:7

Prayer:

Father, help me to hold on like Jacob, when I feel like giving up. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
