SURELY THE LORD IS IN THIS PLACE
"When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, 'Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.'" — Genesis 28:16
When Jacob woke up, his first words were not praise — they were surprise. Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it. He had been sleeping in the presence of God without knowing it. Living in a sacred moment without recognizing it until he woke up.
How often do we do the same? We move through ordinary days — Tuesday mornings and grocery store lines and traffic and tired evenings — unaware that God is in every single one of them. We wait for the burning bush, the dramatic encounter, the sign we cannot miss. And all the while, He is already there. In the conversation that shifted something in your heart. In the verse that seemed written just for your situation. In the door that quietly opened when another one closed. In the peace that passed your understanding on the worst day.
My friend, God is in your ordinary. He is in the mundane. He is in the routine and the repetitive and the unremarkable. Wake up today and declare what Jacob declared — not as a discovery, but as a declaration. Surely the Lord is in this place. And He is.
At the end of today, write down three moments where God was present — even if they seemed ordinary. Train your eyes to see Him in the everyday.
Scripture Promise:
"Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." — Matthew 18:20
Prayer:
Father, thank you for being in every moment of my life from the grand moments to the smallest, you are there. Teach me how to be more mindful of them. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
