DON'T LOOK BACK
"But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt." — Genesis 19:26
They were told one thing: don't look back. The angels had been clear. Flee. Don't stop. Don't look behind you. And for Lot, for his daughters, the warning was enough. But his wife — she looked. And in that one backward glance, she was frozen in the very place she was trying to leave.
We don't know exactly what she was thinking. Regret for what she was losing. Longing for a life that was already on fire behind her. But whatever it was, it was stronger than her trust in the word that said go. And the backward look cost her everything.
My friend, what are you still looking back at? What burned-down season are you still turning around to mourn? There is a difference between honoring the past and being held hostage by it. God has not called you to move forward with your head turned backward. The life He has for you is ahead — not behind. Grieve what needs to be grieved, then let the angels take your hand. Keep moving. Don't look back.
Name one thing from your past that keeps pulling your attention backward. Write it down, spend a moment in prayer releasing it, and then physically turn around — face forward — as a symbolic act of surrendering it to God.
Scripture Promise:
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!" — Isaiah 43:18–19
Prayer:
Father, thank you for allowing me to put my past behind so that I can move forward in the strength you've given me. Teach me to trust the plans you have for my future. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
