LOOK UP AND COUNT THE STARS
"He took him outside and said, 'Look up at the sky and count the stars — if indeed you can count them.' Then he said to him, 'So shall your offspring be.'" — Genesis 15:5
Abram was tired. He had obeyed, left everything, traveled to an unknown land, and still had no children. The promise felt distant. And God did something beautiful — He didn't give Abram a theology lecture. He didn't send a scroll with an explanation. He took him outside at night and said, Look up.
Sometimes the answer to our doubt is not more information. It is a bigger view. Abram had been looking at his circumstances — at Sarah's age, at his own body, at the years passing without a child. God said: change your perspective. Stop looking down at the problem and look up at the promise.
My friend, when did you last look up? When did you last intentionally lift your eyes from the thing that has you worried and look at the vastness of a God who spoke every one of those stars into place? He who named the stars knows your name. He who counted the heavens has counted every hair on your head. The God who kept His promise to Abram is the same God who is keeping His promises to you — even now, even when you can't see how.
Tonight, go outside and look at the sky. Let the stars remind you of the size of the God you serve. Then write down the promise you are waiting for — and declare it aloud under that sky.
Scripture Promise:
"He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit." — Psalm 147:4–5
Prayer:
Father, when even the simple things seem impossible, remind me to look up because the very heaven's declare your glory. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
