Walk in Truth
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” (3 John 1:4, NKJV)
John is an older man now. Decades have passed since Jesus called him away from his fishing nets. He has witnessed miracles, stood near the cross, seen the risen Christ, experienced the power of the Holy Spirit, endured opposition, and watched the gospel spread. After all those years, Jesus is still at the center of his life.
So when John writes that he has no greater joy than hearing that his children “walk in truth,” those words carry the weight of experience. John knows there is a difference between knowing truth and walking in it. He had spent a lifetime discovering that following Jesus is a daily choice to remain close to Him, trust Him, obey Him, and allow His truth to shape the way we live.
That brings this month to a deeply personal question: Has everything we have seen in the lives of the apostles made us want to walk more closely with Jesus? Their courage, endurance, sacrifice, and victories were never meant to draw attention to themselves. Their lives continually pointed beyond themselves to Christ.
The same Jesus they followed is calling us. We may never preach before thousands, endure imprisonment, or travel across nations carrying the gospel, but we are still called to walk with Him wherever He places us. The greatest testimony of this month will not be how much we remember about the apostles, but whether knowing their stories draws us closer to the Savior who transformed them.
May we close these pages wanting more than knowledge about Jesus. May we know Him, remain with Him, and allow our everyday lives to reveal that we have been walking with Christ.
Ask Jesus, “What have You been showing me about my walk with You?” Surrender what He brings to your heart and choose to keep walking with Him.
Scripture Promise:
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.” (Colossians 2:6, NKJV)
Prayer:
Father, thank you for reminding me what it is like to walk with you through the lives of the apostles. Give me the courage to share the gospel as they did and to live only for you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
