Cast It on Him
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, NKJV)
Peter once knew what it felt like to sink. He had stepped out of a boat at the invitation of Jesus and actually walked across the water. Then the wind caught his attention, fear overwhelmed faith, and Peter began disappearing beneath the waves.
His prayer was short: “Lord, save me!” And immediately, Jesus reached for him.
Years later, Peter tells believers carrying burdens of their own, “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” Those words sound different when you remember the man writing them had personally experienced the hand of Christ reaching for him when fear became too much.
Peter had learned that Jesus can be trusted with the things that threaten to overwhelm us.
We often carry anxiety as though worrying longer will somehow give us greater control. We replay conversations, imagine outcomes, calculate possibilities, and exhaust ourselves trying to carry tomorrow before it arrives.
Jesus offers another way.
Give it to Me.
And it's not because He thinks your concern is insignificant. It's because you are significant to Him.
The hands asking you to release your burden are the same hands that were stretched out on Calvary for you. If Jesus loved you enough to give His life for you, you can trust Him with what is keeping you awake tonight.
Name the burden you keep picking back up. Give it specifically to Jesus today, and every time your mind reaches for it again, remind yourself: He cares for me.
Scripture Promise:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NKJV)
Prayer:
Father, thank you for being willing and able to carry my burdens. Help me to lay them all in your hands. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
