The Room Where No One Rushed
Anchor Scripture: "These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers." (Acts 1:14, NKJV)
The stairs creak the way they always have, worn smooth from a hundred climbs before this one. You walk into the upper room not knowing what happens next, only that He told you to wait, and waiting is the only instruction you actually have.
Mary is already there. You've watched her carry more than anyone should have to carry, a sword through her own soul the prophecy called it, and here she is again, sitting among ordinary fishermen and tax collectors like there's nowhere else she'd rather be. Her Son is gone from her sight a second time now, first to a tomb and now to a cloud, and she still shows up to the room and settles in to pray like she's done it a thousand times before. Maybe she has.
Nobody in that room has a plan yet. No one stands up with a strategy for what comes next. You just pray, together, the men and the women both, one voice rising to meet another until the praying stops sounding like individual requests and starts sounding like a single breath the whole room is sharing.
There's a gap in the circle where Judas used to sit, a wound none of you are in a hurry to explain away. But nobody rushes to fill it either, not yet. For now the only thing anyone in that room is doing is what Mary has always done best. Staying close. Staying prayerful. Trusting that the next step will come when it's supposed to, and not one moment before.
Where in your life are you rushing to fill a gap or solve something before God has actually spoken? Sit in the unfinished part today. Let prayer be enough for now.

Father, thank you for allowing me to slow down and reflect on things before I rush in. Help to to live out Matthew 6:33 when I seek you first in all things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
